QCS(E) provides Certification that meets the requirements for the pre-qualification of building contractors and other professional service contractors in the DIT (SA) Building Pre-Qualification schemes. The Government of South Australia, through its Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT, formerly DPTI), has developed a pre-qualification scheme with associated requirements for businesses wishing to contract with the Government for building construction and related professional service contracts. The system enables the department to:

• develop and maintain a register of contractors who are interested in contracting with government departments on construction projects;
• set minimum requirements based on criteria against which the suitability of contractors to perform government work can be assessed;
• review and amend the requirements periodically, in keeping with developments in the industry, to effect continuous improvement in the building and construction industry in South Australia.

As part of its pre-qualification program, DIT has developed its own Quality Assurance criteria for both General Building Contractors & Trade/Subcontractors and other Professional Service Contractors. The DIT program has a number of levels that reflect the requirements of the scheme which can be found on the DIT website.
